Tom Vettenburg



Tom Vettenburg recently joined the Biomedical Imaging and Instrumentation Group at the University Carlos III, Madrid (UC3M). Together with Professor J. Ripoll he set out investigate novel microscopy methods for imaging turbid biological specimens. Tom Vettenburg obtained a master degree in computing science engineering in 2002 and the masters in artificial intelligence degree in 2003 from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. After nearly five years of experience in industry he started his PhD research at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK, under supervision of Professor A.R. Harvey. In 2011 he became a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of St Andrews in the Optical Manipulation Group headed by Professor Kishan Dholakia. His current position at UC3M is supported by a Marie Curie research fellowship grant funded under the European Commission's FP7 framework.
