LIM-Laboratorio de Imagen Médica - Foreword
Home

cabeza_3d.jpgThe work of the Medical Imaging Laboratory (part of the Unit of Experimental Medicine and Surgery) is devoted to research into medical imaging techniques, regarding development of new technologies, processing methodologies and their application in practice. The group is markedly multidisciplinary, as explained below. Thanks to its location in a large teaching Hospital, the group has a strong connection with clinical practice, in such a way that the selection of research lines is usually driven by real clinical needs, and not merely by theoretical statements, whose practical application could be sometimes debatable.

The multidisciplinary character of the group enables fast clinical validation of the results and facilitates the transfer of advanced technological solutions to the industry.

The available equipment for molecular imaging (CY, PET, SPECT, CT-PET, MRI, optical fluorescence tomography) constitutes one of the more complete settings at a national scale, and it is available for external users (see "Services " section).
